Harry Horton

The Training Officer provides skilled administrative assistance to the Fire Chief in training and physical conditioning of the department.  He will be responsible for responding to calls and serving as Incident Commander in the absence of the Deputy Chief or other command staff, serve as Incident Safety Officer during incidents, assistance in the preparation and review of the city budget; reviewing bid specifications and bids received; being familiar with city personnel policies; and possessing a working knowledge of employment and other laws applicable to local governments.  As this position requires the preparation of personnel both intellectually and physically, the Training Officer has to be able to motivate personnel for personal advancement and overall department efficiency.  He is directly responsible to the Fire Chief.
