PRESS RELEASE LOCAL BUSINESS TO HOST BENEFIT FOR
BYRAM PD OFFICER IN NEED
In the early morning hours of Thursday, May 10, 2012 Sereant Jay Nelson of the Byram Police Department
was awakened by his dog to find his home fully engulfed in flames. He was able
to escape with his dog with just the clothes he was wearing. Sergeant Nelson
grew up in Byram, graduated high school here and has been employed at the Byram
Police Department since April, 2011.
The Ink Asylum, located at 5737 Terry Road in Byram,601-373-8282, will host a
benefit to raise funds for Sergeant Nelson on Sunday, May 20, 2012 from
1 PM to 5 PM. The benefit will be held at the NAPA Auto Parts Store,
5750 Terry Road. There will be activities for kids, raffles and good food.
Local Businesses that are joining together to help are: Geaux Burgers, Joe Usry
Dodge, Kroger, Pizza Hut, Revell Ace Hardware, and Vowell's Supermarket.
A benefit account has also been set up at Bancorp South to accept monetary
donations under the name of Sergeant Jay Nelson.

CITY OF BYRAM CLEANUP
The City of Byram will hold its 1st annual Cleanup on Wednesday, May 16 through
Saturday, May 19. This is in conjunction with the nationally recognized program
the Great American Cleanup. We encourage volunteers to get out and clean-up
their neighborhoods, schools and various sites across communities.
The city will
provide a limited number of trash bags which can be picked up at the Public
Works Building, 550 Executive Blvd., between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Dumpsters will also be available at the same location for you to dispose of your
trash.
The following items will not be allowed:
Paints, Tires, Computers, No hazardous materials or Spray cans
